Addiction
Individual therapy addressing the needs of anyone requiring help and guidance with any type of addiction, but predominantly the misuse of alcohol and drugs.
The therapeutic approach is based upon an enquiry into the underlying causes for the excess and seeks to effect a change of understanding and attitude to those causes. The approach is flexible and will involve therapeutic styles to suit the particular needs and circumstances of the individual. Participation in twelve step programmes is encouraged alongside therapy, but not obligatory. Details and links to AA, NA and MA, are at the bottom of this page.
If the client has not been referred by a GP or Psychiatrist advice may be sought, but only with client's consent. It is NOT a prerequisite to commencement of therapy. Strict client confidentiality is observed and assured at all times
Class A drugs include: heroin (diamorphine), cocaine (including crack), methadone, ecstasy (MDMA), LSD, and magic mushrooms.
Class B includes: amphetamines, barbiturates, codeine, cannabis, cathinones (including mephedrone) and synthetic cannabinoids.30 Jan 2014
